Where Has the Time Gone??

Wow, have we been busy this year, and it's only mid-March! So busy there's been no time to write any blogs! We've been hard at work planning new shows and events and searching out new artists and artisans to share with you. Here's what's been happening at Chemers Gallery...

"Seen Through a Child's Eye" - original children's book illustrations at John Wayne Airport, on loan from Chemers Gallery
We are so proud to announce that we were chosen to exhibit a selection of 147 original children's book illustrations at John Wayne airport! Artwork can be viewed in the display cases on the departure level in Terminal A across from Gates 2-5 and Terminal C across from Gates 18 - 21. More than 30 illustrators are represented in this exhibition. The display will be up from now until mid-June. So when you take your next vacation or business trip, book it through John Wayne Airport and be sure to plan a little extra time to enjoy the inspiring children's book illustrations throughout the concourse!

A huge thank you to Tru-Vue Glass, Gryphon Moulding and Bainbridge Mat Boards for their help in making this exhibit possible!

Our next big event is right around the corner...join us this Thursday, March 14 from 6-9pm for a special book signing to celebrate the release of Jimmy Finds His Voice, written by Chapman University's own President Jim Doti and illustrated by the ever versitle Lisa Mertins. You may recall the duo from their 2010 release of A Christmas Adventure in Little Italy. The pair are at it again to bring Little Jimmy, his family, and his beloved dog Blackie to life. This special book signing will benefit the Communication Sciences and Disorders program within the College of Educational Studies at Chapman University. Click HERE for more details!

And, just in case you haven't had a full fix of children's book illustration, we have photos to share with you from our 21st Annual Children's Book Illustration Show! Just follow this link to our Facebook album to see all the fun that was had way back in December.

Gorgeous new goodies from Israeli jewelry designer, Ayala Bar
February was filled with goodies for the eyes, body and soul. (And just a few for the tummy, too!) Our annual Eye Candy Artisan Faire grew to showcase 15 different jewelry, ceramic, textile, mixed media and glass artists. The buzz was astounding, and we had an absolute blast. Just take a look at some of the pictures from the day!

Still to come - We are knee-deep in entries for the upcoming "Viewpoints: Orange County All Media" exhibition with Tustin Art League! Formerly known as "Scenes of Tustin," we stepped things up this year by opening the show up to all of Orange County. We've received over 120 entries and are currently awaiting the judging results from juror, Mary Aslin. "Viewpoints" opens on April 27th and runs until May 11th, so mark your calenders now!

Stay tuned for all of the wonderful new art and artists we have to share with you!
Like we said, we've been busy!
