Even More New Art!

California has a rich continuing history of amazing artistry. Although Chemers Gallery showcases artists from all over the world, we have a special place in our hearts for local, California talent. Let's face it, we're all a little different out here!  We'd like to introduce you to the work of one artist based in Laguna Beach, and re-introduce you to the work of another based in San Francisco...

April Raber - oils
Main Beach, oil on board by April Raber

Karen has admired the paintings of local artist, April Raber, for years and invited her to participate in our Viewpoints Orange County All Media show a couple of months ago. We were thrilled to see her two entries to the show and we couldn't wait to see more of her work. April truly sees the world differently. Her cityscapes and urban scenes have a wonderful ethereal quality that soften and animate what could be an otherwise spartan setting. Her soft colors seem to light her canvases with a warm glow. April has spent her life immersed in art, from drawing as a child to classes in high school to an art degree from BYU. Aside from a few years spent working as a designer and art director, April has made her art her career and is "constantly pushing for the experience of amazement."

Larry Morace - pastel
Trolley From Sea, mixed media by Larry Morace
It's been awhile since we've had new work from Larry Morace, so his latest 5 paintings are a welcome addition to Chemers Gallery! This Bay Area artist has been painting up a storm to create his signature city scenes of San Francisco and the surrounding environs. Full of life and movement, Larry's paintings present the city as if seen from the window of a moving vehicle. His current work is in pastel on gessoed panel, colored Canson papers and primed Arches paper, but he also paints with oils on canvas. Hailing from Louisiana and educated at Indiana University, Larry's influences include Richard Diebenkorn, David Park, and Wayne Thiebaud for their use of color and simplification of the scene down to the most important details.

But wait, there's more...new art!
Keep scrolling to see what else is fresh and exciting!
