Shining Through
Bonnie Holmes

Bonnie works with oil paints and strives to capture the beauty of nature in her plein air paintings. She was featured in the July 2006 issue of SouthwestArt magazine as an "artist to watch". Check out the article HERE. Bonnie's pieces have a vibrantly colorful glow that makes the viewer feel as if she's inviting you into the landscape with her. She works with a pallet knife, which gives her landscapes an Impressionistic feel and creates a very tactile composition. She captures the mood of the landscape perfectly, instilling the time of day and the slant of the sunlight into each piece. Bonnie travels extensively, and has painted scenes of the Solomon Islands, Idaho, and even our own City of Tustin!

Peonies in All Their Glory
Mary Aslin

Mary is primarily a pastel artist, although she works with oils as well. Her still life pieces and landscapes are stunningly vibrant. Mary's award-winning piece, "Sunstruck" received 5th Place in the Still Life category in The Pastel Journal's Annual Pastel 100 Competition, of which over 5000 pieces were received for five categories. Both "Sunstruck" and Mary Aslin were presented in the April 2008 issue of The Pastel Journal. Our resident collector, Patricia Morgan, is now the proud owner of "Sunstruck," but maybe she'll let us keep it for May 3rd so everyone can see its beauty!

Come and meet these two talented women in person!

Welcome KO Designs and Ithil Metal Works!

Chemers Gallery has a wide array of unique handmade jewelry, and we've just added two new designers to our collection: Kim Otterbein of KO Design, and Ithil Metal Works. We love the pieces they've each sent us, and we're confident that you will too.

Necklace by KO Design

Kim Otterbein has had a life-long love for beads. She's a dedicated instructor of beading workshops and classes, as well as an accomplished artisan and silversmith. Color, pattern, and fibers have always attracted her, which is very befitting for someone whose training includes textile design and painting. Kim also works with metal, precious metal clay, and polymer clay to create her designs. The selection of necklaces and earrings we've received from her plays up her expertise perfectly with their combinations of metals stamped with organic designs, paired with complementary shapes, beads, and color combinations. Her jewelry is layered with subtle patters and intricate designs.

Ring by Ithil Metal Works

Israel Ben-Haroush and Gilli Dagmi founded Ithil Metal Works over ten years ago in Tel Aviv, Israel. They produce stunning designs from sterling silver, gold, and semi-precious stones. We've received a collection of rings from Ithil that are just gorgeous, with bold, thick designs featuring hammered metal and thin dual-colored movable bands, as well as delicate filigree. The designers of Ithil strive to embody the spirit of the modern woman. Their kinetic rings are fantastic and make pleasing little jingling noises as they move.

The Cat's Away, Come Out and Play!

by Mary Newell DePalma

The cat's away, and the mice will play!

Come and join us on Saturday, April 5th for
refreshments, champagne, and exclusive deals on artwork and jewelry!

Karen's enjoying some much-deserved time off in Italy, leaving those of us here in California to look after Chemers Gallery. We're throwing a party in her absence, and what she doesn't know won't hurt her, so come and play with us! It will be a great opportunity to get some fantastic deals that Karen won't normally let us give. We'll be having a drawing to give you 10%, 15%, or 20% off of your purchase on that day, so if there's something you've had your eye on, Saturday would be the perfect time to come in and snag it!

We've got loads of new things to look at, including jewelry by new designers KO Design and Ithil Metal Works, new Threadlace scarves and half scarves, and new works of art from Carol Jessen, Jennie Tomao, Gerald Schwartz, Colleen Premer, and Bonnie Holmes. We also have new artists such as Pete Roberts, Mary Aslin, and our own Cathy Arneson!

We'll also be giving you 20% off of selected jewelry from IsArt, Jackie Jones, Avante Gard, and Michou from now until Saturday. It's the perfect time to update your jewelry collection for spring.

Rita, the founder of Chemers Gallery, will also be at our little shindig, so if you'd like a chance to catch up with her, come on in.

Saturday promises to be a day filled with fun and excitement, and we hope to see you then!
